Quintenz stays firm on hostile EU stance

The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission this week approved foreign boards of trade applications (FBOT) from European derivatives exchanges despite opposition from commissioner Brian Quintenz.

Quintenz opposed the FBOT applications from Euronext Amsterdam, Euronext Paris and European Energy Exchange. Quintenz even questioned whether the CFTC should trust its EU counterparts. His decision was in line with a hostile stance to recognition of European Union regulation that
