Focus on capital trades slashes hopes of senior supply feast

Supply and demand for senior financial institution bonds was lukewarm this week, as issuers and investors favoured higher yielding products amid healthy market conditions. FIG deal arrangers are predicting that the trend is set to continue and that issuers will favour capital trades.

Activity in the euro market for financial institutions restarted this week as market participants returned from the summer break.

Favourable conditions prompted issuers to launch deals in various asset classes. But demand for senior deals this week showed that investors are favouring subordinated bonds.
