SMBC prints bumper Aussie dollar deal

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp sold its largest every Australian dollar deal on Tuesday, scooping up A$2.4bn ($1.6bn) of senior unsecured paper through its Sydney branch.

“It’s not surprising to see this sort of volume given some of recent transactions from Credit Suisse and UBS,” said a banker at one of the leads. “There is a lot of interest for Australian dollars in the region and also for opco issuance.”
