CFTC mulls clearing amendments in wake of Nasdaq

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is proposing amendments to the rules governing swaps clearing as it seeks to streamline processes and respond to recent events such as September’s Nasdaq Clearing default.

The CFTC said the rule changes applied to part 39 of its regulations, which correspond to the statutory core principles for derivatives clearing organisations, provisions that were enacted in 2011 and 2013 as part of the Dodd-Frank Act.
