CFTC's Giancarlo unveils cross-border vision

The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) on Monday unveiled a much touted white paper on how the organisation's chairman, Christopher Giancarlo, would like to overhaul US oversight of foreign swaps markets.

The white paper's key aim is to advance and detail Giancarlo's preferred regulatory policy of deference. This practice sees regulators deferring oversight of foreign markets to their opposite numbers in other jurisdictions.
