ABN AMRO was last week on the brink of hiring a pair of high-yield professionals in London and recently added a third high-yield banker. The hires will report to James Courtenay, head of European high-yield and leveraged finance, who was recently hired from CIBC World Markets to build the operation (BW, 3/12).
The most recent addition to the team is Justin Burley, v.p. at Barclays Capital, who joins as a director in high-yield capital markets. Courtenay confirmed the move. Burley could not be reached by press time.
In addition, ABN is reportedly close to landing Vincent Gomez and Andrew McMillan, a high-yield trader and salesman, respectively, at CIBC in London. Reached at CIBC, Gomez and McMillan declined comment. Courtenay confirmed he is looking for one or two sales professionals and one or two research analysts but declined specific comment on his former colleagues at CIBC.
At Barclays, Burley reported to Frank Secula, head of high-yield capital markets, who did not return calls.
