ECB minutes to put BVG spat to bed

Minutes of the European Central Bank’s meeting at the beginning of June, released this week, cooled investor worries about the tensions between it and the German Constitutional Court (BVG).

The court in Karlsruhe ruled in May that the ECB must provide a proportionality assessment of its public sector purchase programme (PSPP). Many feared that, in so doing, the ECB would lose its ability to continue to expand its quantitative easing programmes.
