EU-UK will reach CCP agreement, says Lannoo

Karel Lannoo, the chief executive of the Centre for European Policy Studies, indicated that he was optimistic about the prospects of an equivalency agreement on the oversight of clearing houses between the United Kingdom and EU 27 after Brexit.

In a speech at the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) 2018 Annual Europe conference in London on Wednesday, Lannoo said that since the EU already had central counterparty clearing (CCP) equivalence agreements in place with multiple jurisdictions, a deal with the UK would likely be brokered.
