Belgium and Ireland print ultra-long MTNs

Belgium and Ireland both tapped the ultra-long end of the curve this week to continue a record breaking year for euro-denominated MTNs of 50 years or more, as insurers look for returns amid low rates.

The volume of euro SSA MTNs longer than 50 years in duration is up €771m year to date, rising from €1.9bn in 2019 to a record high of €2.7bn so far this year, according to Dealogic.
