Spike in volatility leaves banks considering short issuance windows

Bank bond spreads widened further on Thursday amid growing numbers of infections in Europe and the US. Deal arrangers say that issuers will need to be more careful about choosing the right issuance window as markets remain choppy.

Credit and equity markets opened in negative territory on Thursday morning, reflecting fears about a new outbreak of coronavirus infections that has led to some parts of the US and Europe delaying plans to lift lockdown measures.
