US bond issuance surprises on upside amid political noise

The dollar bond market made a fast start to the year this week, as investors showered Broadcom, the semiconductor maker, with $28bn of orders, enabling it to raise $10bn.

It will use proceeds to fund a tender offer, continuing a theme that dominated the second half of 2020.

The 144A/Reg S bond comprised $750m of 1.95% seven year notes priced at 135bp over Treasuries, $2.75bn of 2.45% 10 years at 155bp, $1.75bn of 2.6% 12 years ...
