As equity derivatives investors and traders dust themselves off from the Covid-19 panic that gripped the market in spring, thoughts are turning to the US election and how to position for it.

Until mass demonstrations swept the US, market participants had largely seen Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden as a market-friendly candidate. Volatility trades had centred on the chance of an Elizabeth Warren or Bernie Sanders nomination.
