Italian banks extend record breaking run

Italian banks have been piling into the primary bond market in the first quarter, capitalising on an incredible rally in the sector as investors look for new sources of value.

Dealogic data shows that Italian banks have raised €11.7bn of funding so far in 2020, through 26 separate deals.

It has been their busiest start to a year since 2011, when they raised €20.2bn across the same period.
