Banks jostle to secure corporate finance talent for M&A upturn

Some banks will emerge from summer with a pressing need to secure new staff, but coverage gaps are taking longer to fill, writes David Rothnie.

For established firms, the financial crisis and resulting changes in compensation have spelled the end of the big team move and hiring binge. Post-crisis, if you talk to any senior investment banker about hiring, they will trot out the same cautious phrase: “selective recruitment”.
