Bank equity deals in vogue as Santander sets €7bn rights issue

Predictions that financial institutions would ebb as the mainstay of equity capital markets business after the major post-crisis wave of recapitalisations had been completed have proved premature.

Two important capital raisings took shape this week, as Santander announced the pricing and timetable for its €7bn rights issue and Banca Carige, long on Italy's sick list, said it would aim to complete a €500m capital increase by the end of the year.
