JPMorgan has prized the top spot from Citigroup in Institutional Investor magazine's ranking of derivatives dealers. The firm claimed first prize by maintaining its dominance in interest rates, credit and tailored products, while boosting foreign exchange.
The U.S. bulge bracket firm now lays claim to the number one position in all the asset classes, bar equity. Deutsche Bank , the winner of DW 's equity house of the year award, rose from fourth place to claim this year's equity crown.
The Methodology
Institutional Investor e-mailed questionnaires and conducted phone interviews with a range of end users, including portfolio managers, hedge funds executives and treasurers, throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia.
To tally the scores, II awarded three points for a first place vote, two points for second and one point for third. It then weighted the numbers using a formula that assigns a greater value to institutions more active in the derivatives.
