Kleinwort Benson Private Bank will launch a capital-protected investment product with an option on a commodity index at the start of November. The six-year structure will give investors exposure to the growth of the Dow Jones-AIG Commodities Index. The product is the second issue from KBPB's UCITS III platform (DW, 8/6), which means it can be passported through Europe.
Andrew Halford, director of investment products at KBPB in London, said the index was chosen because it is evenly spread across commodities and not overly weighted in energy. KBPB will distribute the product through external counterparties, who will likely be money managers rather than retail distributors, said Halford. Dawnay Day Quantum recently launched a similar product in the U.K. (DW, 10/1). Halford noted commodities are becoming an increasingly popular underlying with high net-worth individuals. Halford declined to name the counterparty to the deal.
