The Republic of Turkey is poised to print its first deal of the year as soon as it spots a stable enough market, it told SSA Markets on Tuesday. The issuer is holding out despite having missed some of the new year bounce that traditionally helps to propel its January trades.

Central European sovereigns latched on to the positive mood in SSA markets this week as Poland and then the Slovak Republic became the first two issuers from the region to launch new deals this year. The EIB has mandated banks for its first Euro Area Reference Note (EARN) trade of the year. The deal, along with a host of other offerings, will follow close behind KfW’s first benchmark euro print of the year which was priced on Tuesday (see separate story).
