CME gets greenlight for full initial margin segregation

CME Clearing Europe has received regulatory approval from the Bank of England to offer a full segregation model for client collateral, after European asset managers pushed for greater protection for collateral held as initial margin in cleared trades.

Tina Hasenpusch, chief operating officer at CME in London, told GlobalCapital that CME were already working on a way to fully segregate client collateral when they were approached by Swiss insurance companies.
