Virus fears finally hit Lat Am as bankers gear up for busy March
Global market volatility triggered by fears surrounding Covid-19 outbreak, finally hit Latin America bonds on Monday just as bankers said they are preparing another heavy wave of issuance.
Until now, Covid-19 fears had created something of a perfect storm for the region's bond markets. Prices had been stable, preserving portfolio performance and keeping funding costs attractive for issuers, but the US Treasury rally meant spreads became more enticing on a relative value basis.
