No contagion from India banking crisis expected

India’s banking sector has been shaken by a trio of unfortunate events, but they are unlikely to inflict any lasting damage on capital markets, say bankers.

The troubles started after the financial services arm of Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services (ILFS) defaulted on multiple bank loans and term deposits, resulting in ratings downgrades and triggering fears of contagion among non-bank lenders.
