SFC says HK IPO sponsors swoop just the beginning

Hong Kong’s market regulator has warned that it may broaden its investigations into IPO sponsors, as it looks to act on other cases that have been brought to its attention.

The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) is already looking into Standard Chartered and UBS for their roles as sponsors on IPOs, the banks announced recently in their respective third quarter results. A senior SFC official said this week that the investigations could extend to other firms.
