Citigroup Alternative Investments' London Credit Structures has hired Erik-Jan van Bergen, head of asset-backed securities at ING Investment Management in The Hague. Van Bergen, who could not be reached for comment, starts this week as portfolio manager for the ABS component of Citigroup's portfolios. The division runs four structured investment vehicles and has over $20 billion under management. The 10-strong investment team in London reports to Anurag Shah, head of investments.
At ING, van Bergen reported to Han Rijken, head of investment grade credits. Bas Kragten, senior portfolio manager, has been promoted to head of the ABS team, and said the group is looking to hire a portfolio manager to replace van Bergen and bring the team back to four professionals. Rijken did not return calls by press time.
