UBS Warburg has hired Kieran Goodwin, managing director of credit derivatives trading at Merrill Lynch in New York, as an executive director in the structured products division of its principal finance group. He is trading credit derivatives and corporate bonds on a proprietary basis and reports to Ken Karl, head of the principal finance group, according to Kris Kagel, spokesman at UBS in New York.
Goodwin confirmed that he has joined UBS, but declined further comment. While at Merrill Goodwin reported to Steve Padovano, global head of credit derivatives. Padovano confirmed Goodwin's departure and said his duties were being handled through a reshuffling of the firm's internal professionals. He declined to provide details on who had taken over Goodwin's position. Karl could not be reached for comment.
