Wachovia has beefed up its U.S. equity derivatives trading operations with the hire of Paul Mandell, a senior single stock options trader at Susquehanna Investment Group in New York. Todd Steinberg, managing director and head of equity-linked products at Wachovia in New York, said the firm has undergone dramatic growth in its single stock trading option trading activity over the past three months, thus prompting the new hire. Mandell declined comment.
