Citigroup has hired Mickey Brennan, head of European high-yield sales at Credit Suisse First Boston in London, as head of European high-yield and distressed debt sales, as first reported last week on BW's Web site (www.bondweek.com). The 15-year market veteran, who set up the London high-yield desks at Bankers Trust and subsequently Deutsche Bank, will report to John 'Max' Colligan, head of European credit sales. Brennan takes a new position, assuming responsibilities previously held by Colligan, according to Jeremy Hughes, a Citigroup spokesman, who declined further comment. Colligan and Brennan referred questions to Hughes, as did Steve Butcher, managing director in high-yield sales.
At CSFB, Brennan reported to Jim Amine, head of European leveraged finance, who said CSFB would take its time in replacing Brennan. In the interim Derrick Herndon, who previously worked with Brennan at Bankers Trust and Toronto Dominion, will run high-yield sales and trading, Amine added.
