He will join Caxton in July as a portfolio manager following the completion of his gardening leave from BlueMountain. At Caxton, Kurella will be responsible for managing a global portfolio of options and related instruments, where he will combine macro analysis with quantitative valuation and risk management techniques.
He will report to Andrew Law, chairman and CEO of Caxton in London. “I am very excited about the synergies of combining my volatility trading skill set with Caxton's macroeconomic investment analysis framework,” said Kurella.
Kurella joins Caxton after nearly four years at BlueMountain. At BlueMountain, Kurella was involved in the performance growth of the BlueMountain Equity Alternatives Fund, which has been one of the leading performing funds in the Newedge Volatility Trading Index over the last three years among the ten constituents that make up the index.
Prior to BlueMountain, he held portfolio management roles at Nomura Securities and HBK Capital Management. He started his career at Credit Suisse First Boston as an investment banking analyst in 2002.
