US corporate bonds: go big or go home

The US corporate bond market has once again proved it is the deepest, most mature and most reliable in the world.

This year has started horribly in financial markets, yet issuance reached $118bn by Thursday, breaking the January record of $115.5bn.

True, volume would be thin without Anheuser-Busch InBev’s $46bn blockbuster. And high yield, home to many energy companies, is in a mess, with volume sharply down.
