Green bankers confident of Taxonomy U-turn

Sustainable finance specialists are optimistic that the European Commission will make a last minute concession on its proposed rules for green buildings when it publishes its final and binding Taxonomy of Sustainable Economic Activities, expected later this month.

Banks and investors were alarmed in November to discover that the Taxonomy looked set to class as sustainable only buildings that carry an Energy Performance Certificate grade A — a very high standard that would include only 1% of buildings in the EU.
