US firms cram into market, accelerate bonds

US corporate bond issuers set a blistering pace this week as crowded into the market in droves after Monday’s Presidents’ Day holiday.

Bankers expect the pace to slow next week but are already predicting a busy March. “Rates and spreads are in a place where we’re starting to see borrowers pull forward financings. In this market there’s no point in waiting,” said a syndicate banker.
