Hedged solar in Texas opens door to world of options

Sponsors that are bullish on the project finance market for solar assets in Texas have begun to explore contract structures that preserve more potential upside in their hedges while still providing comfort to lenders and tax equity investors.

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partnersis one such sponsor, having financed its 240 MW Misae project in Texas's Childress County on the basis of a swap that effectively guarantees a fixed price for seven years before being replacedby a collar for a further three years.
