BOC paves way for green covered bond issuance

Bank of China has racked up another first with the inaugural green covered bond from the mainland. The deal’s unique structure garnered international attention, supporting the country's pursuit of leadership in green bonds.

Joint global co-ordinators Bank of China, Citi and HSBC launched the three year deal with initial price guidance at the 115bp over US Treasuries area on the morning of November 3, and tightened to final price guidance of 95bp-100bp over in the afternoon.
