UBS has created a new group that merges its fixed-income, rates and currency research functions. The new research team consolidates rate, fx and credit research into one business that will report to co-heads Laurie Goodman and Chuck Mounts, according to an internal memo obtained by BW. Regionally, Goodman, based in New York, will run the U.S. operation while Mounts, based in London, is in charge of the European business. The new structure is being put in place to develop "cross-market research and new customer trading strategies," among other factors, according to the memo.
On a functional level, Goodman, the head of MBS research, will run rates and fx research and Mounts is in charge of credit research and strategy. They each report to Bill Chandler, chief operating officer of the fixed-income, rates and currency group, or FIRC. He was traveling in Zurich last week and did not return a call or e-mail.
