UBS has hired Stephen Sze, head of the third-party distribution group at BNP Paribas in Hong Kong, in a new role as head of private banking and retail distribution for Asia-Pacific, based in Hong Kong. Mark Panday, spokesman at UBS, said Sze will develop private banking and retail coverage for the firm's fixed income and rates business in the region.
Sze established a cross-asset-class retail unit last year at the French bank, joining from Deutsche Bank (DW, 10/14) for the effort. Sze, who starts later this month, did not respond to messages placed to his cell phone by press time. He will report to Peter Najarian, head of fixed income and rates distribution for Asia-Pacific, in Singapore.
Christine Chan, spokeswoman at BNP, did not return calls by press time.
