The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission was tipped to get oversight of credit default swaps and equity derivatives (DW, 7/22). [Since then, the U.S. Dodd-Frank Act has been signed into law, which separates the powers of the regulators via "swaps" for the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission and "securities-based swaps" for the SEC. ]
