Emerging Europe to get first LNG plant as EBRD heads into Med

Poland’s state-run gas pipeline operator Gaz-System has signed a Z300m (€75m) 12 year loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to build the first liquefied natural gas terminal in central and eastern Europe.

The plant is expected to begin receiving liquefied gas from Qatar in 2014. On completion, it is expected to provide a five billion cubic metres of gas a year, equal to a third of Poland’s annual consumption.
