CME Group readies for European closures
CME Group took more formal steps in the shut down of its European exchange and clearing businesses this week as the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) dropped its derivatives clearing organisation registration for the latter division.
On Monday the CFTC vacated the registration of CME Clearing Europe as a derivatives clearing organisation (DCO). The action stops US market participants from opening new cleared positions with the central counterparty.
