Spain’s five year borrowing costs dropped for the 10th auction in a row on Thursday, as tough market conditions in the early part of the week became just a footnote in the eurozone recovery story. Italy — the only peripheral eurozone sovereign other than Greece yet to syndicate this year — is up next, with an auction of medium to long term debt on February 13.

Demand for the UK Debt Management Office’s last syndication of the fiscal year on Wednesday broke records. A reopening of the 2068 index linked Gilt attracted the largest ever book for a UK linker syndication.

Finland raised €4bn of 10 year money on Tuesday despite a drop in euro swap rates at that part of the curve. Elsewhere Council of Europe nipped in to add €500m to an October 2018.
