Lehman Brothers has hired Neil McDonald, a senior equity derivatives trader at Morgan Stanley in London, to head European equity derivatives flow trading, according to a Lehman spokeswoman. McDonald referred calls to the spokeswoman.
McDonald joined Lehman last week and reports to Jerry Donini, head of global volatility trading in New York. Donini was previously responsible for flow trading in Europe, but the firm brought in McDonald to beef up the desk, the spokeswoman said. Prior to his five years at Morgan Stanley, McDonald worked at Goldman Sachs for seven years.
Separately, Tony Medina, who was one of Lehman Brothers' star equity traders in London, has taken a three-month sabbatical. One official familiar with the situation predicted Medina would not return from sabbatical unless the equity derivatives market improves.
