JPMorgan has hired Fater Belbachir, v.p. in global equities, from Credit Suisse in London. He started last week, reporting to Paul Leech, head of equity flow options trading for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Sarah Oppler, JPMorgan spokeswoman, said his position is a new one. Belbachir did not return phone calls.
At Credit Suisse, he was an equity derivatives proprietary trader focused on single-stock options and dispersion trading. He reported to Bertrand Cothier, head of equity derivatives prop trading (DW, 2/18/05), whose team was disbanded last year after trading losses (DW, 10/20). Kassem Toubale, another member of the group, has left Credit Suisse and could not be reached.
Cothier did not return phone calls, and Rebecca O'Neill, Credit Suisse spokeswoman, declined comment.
