ESMA supports supervision of green bond raters

Steven Maijoor, chair of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), has said EU legislation covering green bond reviewers would help ensure the legitimacy of the proposed Green Bond Standard.

The European Commission's Technical Expert Group (TEG) on Sustainable Finance produced a "usability guide" for a Green Bond Standard in March, and the Commission has just closed a consultation on the proposed standard.
