TP ICAP makes play for buy side with Liquidnet offer

TP ICAP is pushing for a slice of buy-side business as it revealed on Tuesday night that it is in advanced discussions to buy Liquidnet, the trading platform provider.

The interdealer broking giant has spent much of the past five years working on the merger of Tullett Prebon and ICAP that created TP ICAP.
