Banks to frontload bond supply ahead of uncertainty

Financial institutions are set to spend the summer months monitoring conditions for issuance in order to continue funding this year or to frontload funding needs for next year, according to deal arrangers.

A handful of European financial institutions jumped into the new issue market this week, as a window opened on Wednesday.

Market participants said the behaviour showed that issuers were being opportunistic in how they are approaching funding amid the uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
