Nigeria seeks $7bn from MDBs in bid to combat Covid-19

Nigeria, Africa's largest economy, is the latest emerging market to approach international financing institutions for help to deal with Covid-19.

Zainab Ahmed, Nigeria's minister of finance, budget and national planning, said the country would revise its budget and would require additional funding from lenders to offset the impact of Covid-19. There are 238 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Nigeria, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
