Hiscox reports virus claims as insurers brace for Covid-19 impact

UK insurer Hiscox said on Monday that it had received some ‘small claims’ relating to Covid-19, as credit analysts warned that the insurance sector was exposed to indirect impacts from the spread of the virus.

Hiscox said it was “too early to estimate the impact” of Covid-19, as it released a preliminary set of financial results for 2019 on Monday.

But the specialist insurance company acknowledged that it had “received notifications of small claims to date”.
