Buenos Aires struggles to strike deal on Argentina restructuring flashpoint

Bankers and investors say that the Province of Buenos Aires is facing difficulties in persuading 75% of bondholders to support a two month delay in debt payments, prompting the government to offer a sweetener in the shape of advance interest payments.

Analysts had long considered a $249.975m amortisation payment due on the Province of Buenos Aires’ 10.875% 2021s on January 26 as a potential flashpoint in Argentina’s attempts to restructure its debt.
