Credit Suisse First Boston in London has hired Bob Ferguson, executive director in high-yield sales at UBS in London, as managing director in high-yield sales. He fills the void left by Mickey Brennan, who made a high-profile move to Citigroup in June (BW, 6/28). Ferguson will work with Derrick Herndon, managing director and head of European high-yield trading in London. Herndon was on vacation and did not return calls; Ferguson has not yet started at CSFB and could not be reached for comment.
The addition of Ferguson in sales rounds out CSFB's hiring of high-yield veterans across the different parts of its European high-yield business. Herndon joined in May from TD Securities in New York to head up trading and toward the end of last year Richard Phelan came on board as co-head of research from UBS. Since then, Marisa Drew was hired from Merrill Lynch as head of corporate finance.
At UBS, Ferguson reported to Guy Cornelius, co-head of European sales. "We are sorting ourselves out internally to maintain our presence as a top-three player in the secondary market," said Cornelius, declining to comment on any specific hiring plans.
