Merrill Names Equity-Linked Head

Chris Vogelgesang, head of global markets in the hybrid products group at Merrill Lynch in London, has been promoted to head of complex equity-linked products for EMEA.

Chris Vogelgesang, head of global markets in the hybrid products group at Merrill Lynch in London, has been promoted to head of complex equity-linked products for EMEA. Vogelgesang replaces Olivier Deloire, head of EMEA equity-linked trading in London, who retired in February (DW, 2/22). Vogelgesang will retain responsibility for hybrid products, as well as taking charge of structured products including the funds, index and exotics businesses.

According to an internal memo, Vogelgesang "joined Merrill Lynch in Frankfurt in 1993, traded [Deutsche mark] interest rate derivatives for two years before moving to London in 1995 as a junior trader in Complex FX Options (CFXO). He headed global CFXO from 1998 and was also appointed as co-head of Rates in September 2002."

As part of the reshuffle, Andreas Klainguti, head of the equity strategy desk, has been named head of single stock equity-linked products for EMEA. He will cover ETFs, certificates and futures as well as single name equity-linked risk such as OTCs and convertibles, according to the memo.

Vogelgesang and Klainguti report to Harry Lengsfield, head of EMEA Global Markets and Simon Brookhouse, head of Global Equity-Linked.
