Focus Investment Group, a New York-based fund of funds firm, has hired Amar Sil, a risk manager for mortgages and fixed-income derivatives at Smith Barney, to be its director of risk management. Focus is expanding its risk management team to add a more quantitative form of risk management to its services. "There has also been a great demand from our institutional clients for more quantitative research and this new position will not only help meet that demand, but will compliment our qualitative risk management," said Euginio Verzili, managing director for Focus.
Sil was brought on board to help the firm build its risk management team and will be responsible for optimizing the firm's existing portfolios to enhance performance, Verzili said.
Separately, Focus has hired two marketers. Colleen Huggins, previously from U.S. Trust Company and Fred Alger Management, and Betty Estacio, from Tremont Capital Management, where she was responsible for development, design and production of the firm's marketing materials have both joined to enhance its global clients services, said Verzili. Calls to officials at Smith Barney, U.S. Trust and Tremont were not returned.
