The firm also plans to hire a senior structurer for its New York-based synthetic collateralized debt obligation group, according to David Allan, managing director and head of securitization in Toronto. Allan said he plans to fill the position by next month.
CIBC currently has a small group of CDO marketers in New York. The senior structurer would be a new position created to link the U.S. group with the Canadian division on deals in North America, Allan said. "We are very close to bringing someone in to fill the role," Allan added. The structurer will report to Allan.
